Brooklyn, NY -- Today, 30 parent leaders from across Brooklyn endorsed Justin Krebs for City Council. Krebs is now supported by dozens of past and present PTA/PA presidents, PTA/PA executive board members, and School Leadership Team parent representatives from PS39, PS118, PS124, PS307, PS58, PS295, PS10, PS321, PS261, PS154, Brooklyn New School (PS146), MS447, MS839, the Cobble Hill Playschool, as well as other parent and school leaders.

“Like so many New Yorkers, my family’s life is shaped by our school. My wife and I have 3 girls in elementary school—our teachers, administrators and school community invest in us, and we look for ways to reciprocate—both in supporting our own school and fighting for schools, teachers, students and families across the district and around the city,” said Krebs. “I’m proud to be building a City Council campaign with the support of so many parent leaders, a continuation of the work we’ve had a chance to do together across schools over the years. Now more than ever, we need to prioritize our school kids; and now more than ever, families, students, teachers and school staff need advocates championing them in City Council.”

This series of endorsements comes after Krebs brought parents together to demand a plan for 5-day-a-week schools in the fall. Kreb’s petition to Mayor de Blasio, Governor Cuomo, and Chancellor Carranza has already accumulated hundreds of signatures from local parents. Justin serves as the Secretary of the District 15 Presidents Council and on the board of the PS 39 Parents Association.

“It was a pleasure working with Justin on the board of our children’s cooperative preschool in Brooklyn and I personally nominated him to become the president of that board when it was time for me to move on,” said Jessie Schilling (Former President of Cobble Hill Playschool). “I have always believed in Justin's leadership abilities and in his commitment to education. That is why I am happily and enthusiastically endorsing Justin Krebs for City Council.”

“I wholeheartedly support Justin Krebs for City Council.  Justin has worked tirelessly to help improve schools across the 39th district by engaging all stakeholders and developing plans that prioritize our children’s education,” said Madge Koch (SLT member and former PA Treasurer, PS39), “I have seen firsthand at PS 39 how he can quickly put his ideas into action leveraging his strong communication and management skills.  I believe Justin is the best candidate to support our school children and all New Yorkers as we recover from the pandemic and well into the future.”

“I am truly inspired by Justin's commitment to bringing people together in support of our community.  His ability to gather many voices around a broad table is critical in a City as diverse and vibrant as NYC,” said Kristin Brady (Director, Cobble Hill Playschool). “As a fellow public school parent, I am encouraged by his support of City organizations that are accessible to and inclusive of all New Yorkers.”

“It is with great enthusiasm that I share my endorsement of Justin Krebs' campaign for the 2021 City Council seat. In the years I have come to know Justin as part of the PS 39 Executive Board and greater body of parents, I have always been impressed by his thoughtful participation and engagement in all aspects of school life,” said Julie Baron (PA Executive Board, PS39). “This city has many challenges ahead of us, and it is in times like this that we need our very best leaders to step up and lend a hand. Justin Krebs is undoubtedly such a leader. I can think of no better representative to help guide us not only back to where New York was before the pandemic, but towards a revitalized, equitable, creative and compassionate future for years to come. He has my highest endorsement.”

“I am supporting Justin Krebs for City council because I believe he genuinely cares about our neighborhood and our children and our neighbors and continuing to fight for a fair and equitable Park Slope,” said Lucia Burns (Treasurer, MS839 PTA).

“I can say that I've been on the Presidents' Council for D15 for about three years and Justin has been an inspiring leader, especially for parents who volunteer their time,” said Maria Fusilero (PTA Co-President, PS295)

“As a parent living in Brooklyn with multiple children, Justin’s values and initiatives speak directly to so many of my concerns for our community,” said Nikki Kelly (PA Executive Board; PS39). “He has always approached his service in the community, within our school, and as a fellow parent with kindness and sincerity. It feels good to be able to support someone that I know personally and feel confident has the best interests of our neighborhood and community in mind.”

Krebs is also being endorsed by Chris Shott (PTA President, PS118), Megan Butler (Co-president, PS39 Parents Association), Stefany Morris (President Emerita, Cobble Hill Playschool), Sara Thompson (PA Co-President, PS39), Linnea Olson-Schwartz (Vice President and Former PTA President, PS58), Kim Browne (Former Vice President, Cobble Hill Playschool and Co-Chair of community engagement, Packer Collegiate), Lauren Gropp Lowry (PTA Co-President, PS321), April Andrix (PS 124 PTA President), Supriya Doshi (PS 261 PTA President), Susannah Bortner (educator and administrator of a popular outdoor program in Prospect Park), Rebekah Cook-Mack (former SLT member, Brooklyn New School), Tate Hausman (Former After School Treasurer, PS261), Talia Kovacs (Literary Specialist, CEO LitLife), Rudi Ganz (Former PA President, PS39), Rebecca Cohen (Parent Leader and Educator), Mary Huhn (PTA President, MS447), Leah Vickers (Public School Parent Leader), Daryll Pierre (PA Executive Board, PS39), Jaymie Kelly (PTA President, PS154), Kirsha James-McIntyre, (PS 39 PA, Executive Board), Jenny Reckrey (PS 307 PTA Board Member) and Tracy Tonkinson (PA Executive Board, PS39).
